Inside the New Cabinet: Dropped Ministers and Who Replaced Them

A total of 37 ministers were Tuesday morning dropped as President Yoweri Museveni announced the new cabinet.

These included big guns in government like Sam Kuteesa who was dropped from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who was dropped from the position of Prime Minister, Edward Kiwanuka who was dropped from Vice President among others.

KACITA Chairman Everest Kayondo is Dead

The chairperson of the Kampala Capital City Traders’ Association (KACITA) Everest Kayondo has died, The Tower Post reports.

Kayondo died Wednesday afternoon at Lifeline International in Zana, Kampala.

According to KACITA chief executive officer – CEO, he had been admitted with Covid-19 symptoms on Saturday.

On top of heading the Traders’ Association, the deceased has also been running Ever Based Tours and Travel Company.

Mukono Resident Arrested for Staging Illegal Roadblocks

Police have arrested a man identified as Aziz Ssempala, said to be the leader of a gang that has been staging illegal checkpoints in various villages of Mukono district with intention of robbing travelers and extorting boda boda riders.

Ssempala who was wearing a local defense unit uniform had staged an illegal checkpoint near Kyawambogo trading center in Nakisunga sub county, stopping and extorting money from motorcycle riders when information leaked to police.

A joint team of police and army led by Hawah Namukome, the Officer in Charge-OC of Kyetume police post stormed the illegal checkpoint and arrested the suspect.

The force proceeded to check the apartment Ssempala had hired at Namuyenje trading center, Nakisunga sub county and landed on military attires and rounds of ammunition hidden in his room.

Ssempala had staged the checkpoint with two other unidentified men in plain clothes who managed to escape.

However, according to security officers, it is believed he has a gang of over ten people that assist him to stage illegal checkpoints during day and night hours. He is currently detained at Mpoma barracks.

BREAKING: Tracy Kababiito Stripped of Her Lead Role in Sanyu TV Show

Multichoice Uganda has stripped Tracy Kababiito of her lead role in their riveting TV Production Sanyu, The Tower Post has learnt.

This was announced in a statement released by the company on the morning of Monday June 21st

“The Channel (Pearl Magic Prime) is excited to give more actors and young talent an opportunity through the appointment of Catherine Namugenyi who will take on the leading role of Sanyu,” the statement added.

“Namugenyi will replace Tracy Kababiito for the role of Sanyu after failure to come to an agreement in her renewal of contracts with Nabwiso Films. These changes also take effect on 28th June 2021.”

In more developments, Nana Kagga who plays Jasmine in another show dubbed Prestige will also cease to appear on the show and will be replaced by Sally Elizabeth Bwamimpeke.

Ms Kagga, according to the Multichoice statement, also failed to agree to the terms of the renewal of her contract.

“It is with regret to announce that they were unable to reach an arrangement that deemed favorable for both parties. Pearl Magic Prime remains committed to bringing the best in local programming to viewers and maintaining a great content offering,” the statement further reads.

Sanyu and Prestige which launched in February this year, air exclusively on Pearl Magic Prime every Monday to Friday at 8:00pm and 8:30pm respectively.
