Multi-award winning DJ and record executive, DJ Khaled, who is best known for his Hip Hop and R&B hit anthems has been announced as the official international host for the MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 (MAMA), going down this year in Kampala on 20th February on MTV in 180 countries.
The ‘I’m the one’ hitmaker will host the virtual awards ceremony from his glamourous home in Miami, Florida, alongside African co-emcees like Bonang Matheba for the star-studded lifestyle and entertainment event.
“MTV has always been a great partner so I jumped at the opportunity to host this year’s MAMAs. I can’t wait to celebrate the incredible music that comes out of Africa, which has inspired me throughout my career,” DJ Khaled said.
According to the President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events for ViacomCBS Media Networks Bruce Gillmer, he believes that Africa is home to some of the world’s most dynamic talent.
“Africa is home to some of the world’s most dynamic talent and we’re excited to spotlight these artists as the MAMAs broadcast in 180 countries for the first time in MTV history,” Bruce Gillmer said.
“With DJ Khaled at the helm, we’re certain this will be an incredible, must-see global event,” Bruce added.
The MAMA Kampala 2021 event will celebrate African talent across 20 award categories, including Best Male, Best Female, Best Song, and Best Collaboration. The contribution of artists from Portuguese and French-speaking Africa will also be recognized in the Best Lusophone and Best Francophone categories. Additional new categories included are the MAMA Generation Change Award, Best Fan Base, Alone Together Best Lockdown Performance and Personality of the Year.
Sixteen categories of the awards have been announced so far and voting is now open at www.mtvmama.com and affiliated Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. Voting in all categories closes on 31 January 2021.
Former Presidential candidate John Katumba has revealed how he spends his free time.
The politician says he enjoys relaxing and in such moments he plays PlayStation 4 as well as monopoly.
PlayStation 4 is a gaming console that brings games to life and delivering a spectacular and immersive gaming experience.
Monopoly is a board game where players roll two six-sided dice to move around the game board, buying and trading properties, and developing them with houses and hotels.
When quizzed on NTV The Beat, Katumba said; “I play PS4, I also do a game, monopoly, actually through that, by the end of this year, I am going to launch a game.. it’s already in the process..”
Katumba registered 35,983 votes from the 2021 General Election according to Electoral Commission. The score was 0.36 percent of the the total votes counted.
During a TV interview recently though, she revealed much about her love life and what she is planning ahead in her life.
The ‘Mummy’ singer noted that she has not yet found someone to trust and fall in love with and does not consider marriage anytime soon.
Gloria revealed that her concentration is on her music career and to finish her studies first before embarking on the journey to find a soulmate.
I have never been in a relationship and haven’t found love. I am busy focussing on my career and school. Everything else will come with time.
