Huawei donates ICT study equipment to local universities

Huawei, a leading ICT global solutions provider has donated ICT study equipment worth 30,000USD to local learning institutions,  Kyambogo  and Uganda Martyrs University.

Huawei, a leading ICT global solutions provider has donated ICT study equipment worth 30,000USD to local learning institutions,  Kyambogo  and Uganda Martyrs University. This equipment is to aid in the hands-on study at the Huawei ICT Academy that was started within the different universities in 2019.

The event that took place at Serena Hotel Kampala was attended by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of ICT and National Guidance Hon. Vicent Bagiire, Huawei Managing director Mr. Gaofei, the Vice Chancellors Kyambogo and Nkozi University.

The Huawei ICT Academy was launched in May 2019 at Makerere University and spread to seven other universities with Kyambogo and Nkozi inclusive. Huawei’s mission is to train 1000 students free of charge in the next two years as pledged to His Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

According to Huawei’s Managing Director Mr. Gaofei, “we shall also donate ICT Academy equipment to the following universities, Kyambogo and Uganda Martyrs University as pledged. We hope that these shall aide and ease the teaching and learning process of the students.”

“With this donation, we believe that we shall trigger exploration which lights the way forward. And further more we believe that this exploration begins with sharing wisdom, and exchange of ideas to open up exciting new possibilities in a digital world”, He added.

The permanent secretary and chief guest by Hon. Vicent Bagiire emphasized that the skills imparted through the ICT Academy should be able to help students to create their own enterprises.

“For us it is important because we realize and recognize that ICT can be used for efficiencies in whatever we do but that it’s also a business. So we hold the view that the skills that have been imparted unto you the students can be used to create your own enterprises instead of looking for employment,” he said.

Huawei has so far opened eight ICT academies in Ugandan Universities namely; Makerere, Muni, Kyambogo, MUBs, Kabale, Soroti, Nkozi and Mbarara.

The Huawei ICT Academy course combines both theories and practical operations which range from Enterprise Networks such as Routing and Switching, Advanced Network and Network technology, information technology such as Storage, Cloud computing and big data among others.

Classy socialite, Zari Hassan has come out to defend herself after facing heavy criticism, banter and trolls for making out with ‘younger boys’.

However, Zari claims that Shakib is actually older than what is peddled on the social media streets. In a latest interview with a local media house, the mother-of-five trashed all the allegations that she’s molesting Shakib. She says he is a grown able-bodied chap, who is equipped with all the Zzina skills.

“Why are people mad tho? Shakib is 30. He just looks good…lol. I hear 18 year, 20 year old…molesting. Do they even know the meaning of molestation? Smh,” Zari blasted and vowed to continue making merry with her man.

The Academy will offer courses in audio production, cinematography, digital video editing, live broadcast, script writing, and film production, among others.

With over 14 years of experience in producing audio and visual content, Swangz Avenue will skill young creative minds with an intent to build a bridge between basic school education and the creative industry professional world through a curriculum, which is both innovative and modular, under the tutelage of industry professionals to join the immense opportunities the creative industry has to offer.

Swangz Avenue launches Creative Academy

“The sector is heavily unskilled yet the demand for quality audio and visual production is at an all-time high. We believe this skilling initiative will make a significant leap at improving the quality of productions but most importantly create jobs,” says Julius Kyazze, the Head of Business at Swangz Avenue.

All courses will employ an 80% hands-on teaching technique with the rest being theoretical assessments.

The Swangz Creative Academy has started registration for the June entry with focus on the first two courses; Audio Production & Broadcast Production.

The Academy is certified by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
