Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Latif Ssebaggala is set to contest again, as an independent candidate in Kawempe North.

Ssebaggala, who had earlier expressed interest in running for Kampala Lord Mayor in the forthcoming 2021 general election, was subsequently endorsed by the National Unity Platform (NUP) as their flag bearer for the mayoral race.

Ssebagala, however, stepped down from the race and said he would soon announce his next move.

After going back and forth on the matter, Ssebaggala has decided that he will independently run for Kawempe North Member of Parliament, a post he has held for 20 years.

This was revealed yesterday, Sunday, as Ssebaggala’s family unveiled their members who will be contesting in 2021 general elections.

NUP has since handed over its ticket for the Kampala mayoral race to Nabilah Naggayi Sempala and that of Kawempe North to Mohammed Ssegirinya.
