Local rapper Victor Kamenyo, real name Katongole Derrick, was officially awarded the courtesy to contest for the Lubaga North 1 Lord Councilor position in the 2021 elections on the NUP card.
The Executive Board of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party released the list of approved NUP contestants in various positions of leadership ahead of the 2021 elections.
For weeks, Victor Kamenyo has been airing out his dissatisfaction with a petition forwarded to the party president Bobi Wine concerning after being denied the chance to contest for Lubaga North 1 Lord Councilor on the NUP card.
Kamenyo noted that Keeya Jeremiah Mwanje used the office that was given to him as NUP’s Secretary Electoral Commission wrongly and contested for the Lubaga North 1 Lord Councilor position and rewarded himself with the flag bearer card hence the rapper missing out.
The petition must have been heard and on Tuesday morning, Kamenyo turned out victorious as his name was read amongst those that had been given authority to contest on the NUP card.
The elated rapper shared a video of himself standing before the committee as he was being officially announced as the flag bearer. His caption read, “Fully nominated ku ballot kwetuli. Akabonero LYATO LYA NOAH.”
Congratulations to Victor Kamenyo
