Police in Arua have recovered an SMG rifle number UG POL 48002035 with 9 rounds of ammunitions along Arua Vurra custom road, near the Customs with DR Congo, Vurra sub county, Arua district in the night of Tuesday at around 2200hours

According to the police spokesperson, West Nile/North West Nile regions, Angucia Josephine, inquiries indicate that this gun in question was one of the 3 guns stollen from Lobule Prison in Koboko district about a month ago.

“The two people carrying the gun were moving on a motorcycle towards Vurra Custom side during curfew time. Upon meeting the officers from Police and UPDF on joint night patrols, they abandoned the black bag with the gun on the road and took off in disarray,” Josephine said.

“After chasing them with no catch, the officers came back to check inside the bag only to find the gun with 9rounds of ammunitions,” Josephine said.

She noted that no arrest has been made yet but the gun is exhibited as inquiries continue under Vurra SD Ref 02/08/09/2020.
