The Ministry of Health has recorded a total of 109 new covid-19 cases and three deaths as on September 6, 2020. This brings the total of Covid-19 deaths in Uganda to 44.
The deaths include two health workers; one from Lira Regional Referral Hospital and one from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
The third death was a 53 year old male resident of Kampala.
Among the 109 new cases, 53 are from Kampala, Luwero 11, Kitgum 7, Wakiso 5, Buvuma 4, Buikwe 3, Mbale 2, Lira 2, Gulu 1, Arua 1, Kole 1, Mbarara 2, Mukono 1, Oyam 1 and Tororo 1.
The cases include 7 health workers, 5 from Lira, 1 from Mbarara and 1 from Kampala.
Four truck drivers also tested positive for Covid-19 with 2 arriving from the Elegu point of entry, 1 from Malaba and 1 from Goli.
2 returnees from South Sudan and Tanzania also tested positive.
The total number of samples tested on Saturday was 6439. Of these, 5889 were alerts and contacts while 550 were taken from points of entry.
So far, the total number of covid-19 samples tested is 411,666.
The cumulative total of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the country is 3,776.
