The Soroti District Woman Member of Parliament Angelina Osege has opened up on the unendurable reasons why she left the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.
Hon. Osege, now a proud member of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), told journalists at Parliament that her former party (FDC) poisonously practiced politics of extremism and ideologies of anger.
“FDC is practicing politics of intrigue, divisionism, tribalism which is leading the minds of the people astray instead of focusing on people’s predicament of poverty and others,” said Osege.
She, on the other hand, praised ANT for being a solution oriented party aimed at unifying not dividing the nation.
“ANT is a unifying party without an extremist ideology. It stands for the unity of Uganda and against the politics of intrigue. That is why you hear them debate issues not going personal against people,” said Osege.
Osege is standing to retain her position on ANT ticket and set to face a tough completion from the National Youth MP, Anna Adeke, who is the FDC flag bearer for Soroti Woman MP.
She stressed that Uganda needs a leader like the ANT party president, Rt. Maj. Gen. Mugusha Muntu to nurture democracy and focus on development.
“Muntu is a unifying factor, accommodating and understanding. He knows we are a growing democracy and understands when you differ with him in an opinion and will not treat you as an enemy,” said Osege.
Osege is among the three FDC MPs from Teso sub-region who left the party recently owing to the grievances with the party leadership.
Osege, Herbert Ariko of Soroti Municipality and Elijah Okupa of Kasilo county supported Munutu for FDC presidency. The race was however won by Patrick Amuriat, who allegedly embarked on purging the trio he hails with from Teso sub-region for “betraying” him.
