Kampala Metropolitan Police is investigating a shoot out incident that happened in Kamwokya on Sunday.
According to Police, detectives are probing circumstances under which armed people, who were travelling in a Super Custom vehicle registration number UBE 229E fired bullets in Kamwokya Central Division, Kampala Capital City.
It’s alleged that Olim Charles alias Sipapa, a self proclaimed city millionaire, was driving in the said motor vehicle at around 3 pm on August 30, 2020, in Kamwokya.
In a statement, KMP spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango said some witnesses have told police that the scuffle started off when Sipapa tried to park near Mr. Fred Nyanzi’s place, who happens to be the elder brother to presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi.
“It is alleged that a group of youths attacked him and destroyed his windscreen and the right side driving mirror,” reads part of the statement.
“This prompted two armed men, who were moving with him(Sipapa) to release three bullets in the air. No one was injured,” the statement further reads, adding that Police visited the scene and recovered one cartridge.
“The evidence picked at the scene will aid the investigators to establish the owner of the firearm. Detectives will interview everyone involved in their investigations,” Said Onyango.
