The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine has received a donation of various medical equipment, supplies from well-wishers allocated for Lyantonde General Hospital.
The maternal ward of the same hospital has also been given a major facelift. The donation was made by the family of Mr. Enos Asiimwe Kinywamacunda,
“Earlier today, we inspected Lyantonde General Hospital and also officially received medical equipment donated by well-wishers to enhance government efforts towards better health services delivery,” Dr. Diana tweeted yesterday August 30.
Dr. Atwine and some other officials from the Ministry of Health inspected the hospital to ensure that standard health services are provided, just like the recently concluded inspection in Lango region.
“We assessed performance and the existing gaps that need urgent interventions,” she confirmed.

The hospital attends to patients from various areas including; Rakai, Kiruhura, Lwengo among others.
Uganda’s Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) has consistently been one of the highest in the world with 440 deaths per 100,000 live births.
The latest UNICEF data indicates that one woman out of every 49 dies of a maternal complication related to pregnancy or delivery in Uganda.
According to Dr Atwine, this donation will boost Health service delivery, specifically maternal and child health services at the facility.
More equipment
It should be noted that this hospital was once a health centre IV but was finally renovated and upgraded into a hospital, the current Lyantonde General hospital in 2011.
