Uganda Registers 91 New Covid-19 Cases, 1 Death On Saturday

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 91 new cases of COVID-19 in Uganda on Saturday bringing the cumulative total number of infections in the country to 2,847.

The cases were confirmed from samples tested for COVID-19 on Friday.

“Results from COVID-19 tests done on 28th August 2020; 91 new cases confirmed. The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 2,847,” the Health Ministry announced.

The Ministry also announced that 1 new COVID-19 has been recorded. The deceased is a Ugandan female aged 45 and a resident of Kampala.

This has increased Uganda’s COVID-19 related deaths to 29.

Meanwhile, of the 91 new COVID-19 cases, 88 are contacts and alerts and they include 44 from Kampala, 18 from Luweero, 6 from Kikuube, 5 from Wakiso, 3 from Tororo, 3 from Ntoroko, 3 from Jinja while Buikwe, Gulu, Lira and Mukono registered 1 case each.

1 health worker and 2 truck driver who arrived into Uganda via Malaba border point also tested positive for COVID-19.

Out of 4,475 samples tested for COVID-19 on Friday, 1073 were from points of entry while 3402 were from contacts and alerts.

Currently, Uganda has a cumulative total of 2,847 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 1,288 recoveries and 29 fatalities.
