The Kabale chief magistrates court has charged a village chairperson from Rubanda district with the attempted murder of his defence secretary.
Prosecution told court that presided over by chief magistrate Julius Borore Kyaka that on 9th August 2020, Deus Bonane alias Buni the LC1 chairperson of Hamurara village in Bubaare sub county unlawfully attempted to cause the death of Moses Tumusiime his village defence secretary contrary to Section 204(a) of the penal code act.
The suspect is said to have waylaid the victim while he returned home from work and hacked him multiple times with a machete.
The two had reportedly developed disagreements on parliamentary candidates.
Barore denied the charges and prosecution told court that police were still investigating the case.
Bonane asked court to be granted bail on health grounds saying he needed urgent medical attention.
The magistrate proceeded to grant him a cash bail of Shs 500.000 and his three sureties each was bonded at10million.
He then adjourned the case till 3rd September 2020 when it will come up for mention
