Manafwa: Two Police Officers Test Positive for Covid-19

Two Police officers attached to Manafwa Police Station in Eastern Uganda have Tuesday afternoon been declared Covid-19 positive.

The results came from a random testing process that is undergoing within the police force.

Reports indicate that there was a sample test of 28 police officers and 6 suspects that was taken on Monday including the area DPC.

“On Tuesday, results confirmed that 2 police officers tested positive for COVID-19. The two officers have been evacuated to Mbale City Regional Referral Hospital for treatment,” said police.

“Fumigation of the station is underway as the remaining officers self isolate for a mandatory period of 2 weeks,” Police further revealed.

On Monday, authorities also closed the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala to enable disinfection, fumigation and sanitization of the premises. Officers from the National Command Center were also subjected to mandatory testing and are awaiting results.

Spokesperson Fred Enanga said that government is also considering a possibility to sanitize all the police stations in the country as well as test all police officers.
