Uganda Premier League Champions Vipers Sports Club have officially confirmed the departure of 13 players as next season’s squad takes shape.
As earlier reported by ChimpReports, the Venoms had let go of goalkeeper Derrick Ochan, midfielder Brian Nkuubi, left back Dan Birikwalira, Striker Joseph Janjali, Farouk Musisi, Tom Masiko and Duncan Seninde.
The other players who have now been confirmed to have been given release letters are defender Ibrahim Kiyemba, Steven Mukwala, Baden Mujahid, Dickens Okwir, Fred Atuhwera and Tito Okello.
Nkuubi, Okello, Masiko, Mujahid, Atuhwera and Mukwala had run out of contracts with the Kitende outfit and the club was not willing to renew their stay.
Left back Birikwalira, Ochan, Kiyemba, Musisi, Janjali, Okwir and Seninde all agreed to mutually terminate their contracts with the reigning champions after failing to get enough playing time.
Coached by Fred Kajoba and Paul Kiwanuka, the club has already kicked off the recruitment exercise by landing new signings in Disan Galiwango (Express), Ibrahim Oriti (Mbarara City), Jamil Kalisa (Bright Stars) and David Bagoole (Busoga United).
Vipers SC also recently appointed Charles Masembe to the new sporting director role and Steven Mulindwa as the club’s General manager.
Vipers will represent Uganda in the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League plus all domestic engagements including the Uganda Premier League, FUFA Super Cup, Stanbic Uganda Cup, and the Pilsner Super Eight.
