President Yoweri Museveni has appointed former Deputy Lord Mayor Mrs Sarah Kanyike as the State Minister for Disabilities and Elderly.
Mrs Kanyike takes the place of Mr Adrian Tubaleka who was appointed in the cabinet position back in 2016, but got rejected by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.
She was nominated for the position back in July, shortly after she was appointed as a Director for Gender at KCCS
Mrs Kanyike recently resigned from her post at KCCA amid heart break from her former boss the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
In a social media post today, Museveni congratulated Kanyinye on her appointment and also pocked her former boss, Lukwago.
“I congratulate Ms. Sarah Kanyike upon her appointed as State Minister for Disabilities and Elderly,” Museveni posted on social media.
“I want to express sympathy to my son Lukwago (Erias) who almost got a heart attack because I captured a big fish from my old party (DP).”
It should be noted that in July, Mrs Kanyike denied crossing to the ruling NRM Party, stressing that she was still a DP member.
