President Museveni, basing on his constitutional mandate, has appointed Sarah Langa the Deputy Registrar High Court Civil Division as the new Chief Registrar.
Langa is replacing Tom Chemutai who has held this office since 2019 under acting capacity.
This appointment is contained in a letter dated August 14, 2020, addressed to Justice Benjamin Kabiito, the chairperson of Judicial Service Commission copied to Hon Ephraim Kamuntu the Minister of Justice and Constitutional affairs, Principal Judge Flavian Zeija and Pius Bigirimana, the Secretary to the Judiciary.
“As per the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, I have appointed persons below as Chief Registrar and Registrars,” the letter reads in part.
Langa is replacing Justice Esta Nambayo who held this position before being elevated to her current post as a judge of High court.
Sarah Langa holds a post graduate Diploma in Administration and a Masters Degree in Law. She has been in the Judiciary for 12 years now. Having joined as a Grade one Magistrate, she has been able to rise through ranks up to her new current position.
The Chief Registrar is the head of all Magistrates and Registrars and she is charged with overseeing and supervising their day to day operations.
The other Judicial officers promoted by the President to the rank of Registrar include; Harriet Nalukwago Ssali, Emokor Samuel, Suzan Kanyange, Kwizera Amos, Anguadia Godfrey Opifeni.
