Amanda Ngabirano Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Chairperson of the National Physical Planning Board,  Ms Amanda Ngabirano, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Ngabirano said she suspects she got infected from Lira District in Northern Uganda, where she had travelled.

“My sense of smell is back. Now I can enjoy my fish. However I tested positive for COVID-19,” said Ngabirano on her Facebook page.

Earlier today, Uganda Police Force Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Asan Kasingye publicly revealed he tested positive for COVID-19.

The development comes at a time the novel virus is quickly spreading across the country with Kampala city being a hotspot of most transmissions.

“I don’t know how we shall survive this virus! It’s allover I guess. I trace mine from Lira,” said Ngabirano.

“So my dear contacts, please make sure to test and protect your family, friends and workmates,” she emphasized.

Results from COVID-19 tests done on 22 August 2020 confirmed 97 cases.

The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 2,263.

At least 59 of the new cases were registered in Kampala.

Ngabirano said she didn’t have any “other symptoms so far…and I pray my body successfully fights it as I self-isolate. Let’s do our best to stay safe…the THING IS REAL!!”
