The breakdown of the new cases is as follows; Amuru prisons registered 154 cases, of which 153 are inmates while 1 is a prison staff.
The number of contacts and alerts that tested positive for COVID-19 are 136 and they include 65 from Kampala, 14 from Kiryandongo, 9 from Gulu, 9 from Mbarara, 8 from Kitgum, 7 from Wakiso, 4 from Mbale, 4 from Buikwe, 2 from Masaka while Bugiri, Jinja, Luweero, Manafwa, Masindi and Mityana registered 1 case each.
A total of 20 health workers tested positive for COVID-19.
These include 9 from Kitgum, 6 from Kampala, 2 from Arua, 1 from Adjumani, 1 from Kiryandongo and 1 from Luweero.
8 truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19, 3 of whom arrived via Malaba border point, 2 via Busia, 1 via Mpondwe, 1 via Oraba and 1 via Madi Opei.
Aceng also announced that 1 more COVID-19 death has been registered, bringing the total number of fatalities to 20. The deceased is a 49 year old male from Mbale district.
The Minister further noted that last week, one of the prisoners of Amuru prison presented with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
