The most vulnerable groups prone to COVID-19 and its effects in Uganda are the elderly. With the current economic constraints, most of the elderly groups of Ugandans are struggling to not only get food but also medication. MTN Uganda through its MoMoNyabo Together promotion is changing lives by providing its customers a chance to win up to 5,000,000 UGX worth of mobile money weekly.

This week, 75 year old Christina Molly Kabuye won herself 4,200,000 UGX worth of mobile money. Kabuye, a retired farmer heaped praises to God for remembering her and using MTN to bless her with money.

Kabuye an ardent follower of most of the MTN MoMoNyabo promotions said she always wished that she too could win during the past seasons and said that this season was indeed hers as she walked away a millionaire.

Despite the fact she took long to believe that she was contacted by the team from MTN, Kabuye was hopeful that she was not getting conned by fraudsters. Kabuye who suffers from hypertension said the money will not help with growing the family business but will also help out with her medical bills.

While handing over the cheque to Kabuye, Aggrey Byaruhanga the MTN Regional Manager West gladly handed Kabuye the money she won. “At MTN we are in the business of changing lives of our customers,” he said.

Kabuye chose to share the money she won with her daughter Prossy Nantongo who she said is more than just a daughter to her. “Prossy doubles as my best friend, she is always there for me and I wish her the very best in life,” Kabuye added.

Both Kabuye and Nantongo said they intend to also inject part of the money they had won into their poultry farm. “Currently we have 100 birds however we will buy more to make 200 birds,” said an enthusiastic Nantongo.

A prayerful Kabuye insisted on praying for the MTN MoMoNyabo team prior to their departure. She went on to ask God to bless not only the staff and company but also its customers such that those in dire need of the 5,000,000 UGX will be able to also win just like her.

Kabuye further urged the public to be consistent as they use MTN’s MoMo Pay service such that they can easily enter the draw to win money.

Apart from the winners called in studio, 250 people win 50,000 shillings directly every day. All you have to do is pay using MTN MoMo and stand a chance to win

Use Mobile Money to pay for everything including airtime, data, voice bundles, yaka, water, television subscription and so much more. Watch the live draw game shows every weekday at 8.20pm on NBS TV and Bukedde TV hosted by Zahara Totto and Patricko Mujuuka. You could be the next winner because with MoMoNyabo together, everyone is a winner.

Top Police authorities are slated to meet the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga this morning to tackle the security raid on a thanksgiving function organized by the Mbogo clan head, and religious leaders at Mugulu in Mityana town over last weekend.

Mobogo Clan head, Kayiira Gajuule had invited Bishop Emeritus John Baptist Kaggwa the retired Bishop of Masaka Diocese to grace the thanksgiving ceremony when anti-riot police stormed the area and sprayed teargas to disperse everyone.

This incident has since drawn widespread criticism from both Buganda kingdom loyalists who have since marched to Bulange Mengo demanding an apology from the Police besides the public condemning police actions

Just yesterday afternoon,. Police were forced to use teargas and live bullets to disperse a group of Buganda loyalists at Mityana municipality protesting the incident and demanding that District Police Commander, Alex Mwine Mukono unconditionally releases all the motorcycles he confiscated during the raid.

This compelled the police boss IGP Martin Okoth Ochola to apologize to the bishop and the Catholic Church.

The police political commissar led by a team of senior officers announced that they would be visiting Bishop Kaggwa at his home to announce their apology to his family and the church on behalf of IGP Ochola .

On Monday, the police spokesperson Fred Enanga apologized to the Catholic Church defending the police action on preventing the spread of COVID19.

He said the firing of teargas was caused by a group of uninvited politicians including Francis Zaake among others who had attracted youth.

Now according to the Buganda kingdom spokesperson Noah Kiyimba, a meeting between the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and the top police leadership is scheduled for 11:00 am at Bulange Mengo.
