Pandemonium broke out this afternoon at the FDC head offices in Najjanankumbi as scores of youthful members attempted to force former party President Col Dr Kizza Besigye to pick nomination forms to contest for the 5th time for the Presidency.

The angry youths blocked Besigye from addressing the meeting and demanded that he picks the forms first.

Besigye was supposed to address the members at the closing of the process of picking nomination forms for those seeking the presidential flag.

FDC President Patrick Amuriat Oboi had just picked his forms while the party Chairman Wasswa Biriggwa picked his yesterday.

But when time came for Besigye to address the meeting, the youths swarmed the podium and started chanting and shouting, demanding that signs the forms.

“He must sign here first,” some were heard screaming.

“You cannot back out now; you fired the first shots, you have to fire the last one. We are not tired of fighting; you cannot abandon us.”

Besigye has hinted in past days that he will not be contesting in next year’s election.

He says he wants to focus on a broader goal of pushing a forceful change of government and ensuring a peaceful transition of power.

By publication of this story; calm has been restored and Besigye had started addressing the meeting.
