In their bid to bolster the goalkeeping department, Uganda Premier League four-time champions Vipers Sports Club are leading the race to sign URA FC goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.

The Venoms are currently on pressure to strengthen their squad going into a highly anticipated 2020/2021 competitive season.

Initially, the Kitende outfits had expressed interest in Kyetume’s Custodian Joel Mutakubwa who committed his future at the Mukono based side for further two years.

Also, the UPL reigning champions were targeting former Bright Stars and Onduparaka goalie Nicholas Sebwato who departed Kenyan Premier League sleeping giants Sofapaka for a Tanzanian side yet to be identified.

ChimpReports can reliably report that Vipers has now shifted attention to URA’s Nafian Alionzi who is expected to join the goalkeeping department that has Fabien Mutombora, Sekajja Bashir, Derrick Ochan and youngster Magoloofa.

Sources at the club report that the Burundian shot stopper Mutombora is said to be reluctant to renew his contract with the Vemoms hence Alionzi is seen as his replacement.

Vipers has already added Jamil Kaliisa, David Bagoole, Dissan Galiwango and Ibrahim Orit to their armoury.
