Katwe: Police Rescues Woman from Armed Robbers

Last night, the territorial Police at Katwe Police Division and 999 patrollers rescued a woman from notorious thugs who are also suspected to be kidnappers.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, patrollers intercepted a motor vehicle at a place called Kitebi Star in Rubaga division and rescued a one Victoria Nakitende, who had been robbed and tied with a rope by armed thugs.

In a statement about the incident, spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said, “Our officers recovered exhibits such as an SAR rifle with five rounds of ammunition, ropes, suspected stolen phones, motorcycle keys and breaking implements.”

The suspects under arrest were reportedly using motor vehicle registration number UAR 179L Toyota Celica.

They have been identified as Isaac Massa, Senate George William and Ashraf Mubiru. They are currently detained at Katwe Police Station where they are  being processed.

Although they are charged with being in possession of a gun, police is also investigating them on allegations of being in possession of suspected stolen items, kidnap and disobedience of lawful orders since they were intercepted during curfew time.
