Dove Annual Youth Chess Tournament Returns

Unlike the first two editions, Dove Chess Academy(3rd edition) will hold it’s first ever online Youths Individual Chess Tournament on Saturday 8th August, 2020.

The third edition of Dove Annual Youths Individual Chess Tournament is expected to attract over 200 participants with amazing prizes up for grab in the different age categories for both Boys and Girls.

Four age groups including the U20, U16, U12 and U10 will feature in the Online Chess Championship with cash prizes of Shs. 50,000, Shs 30,000 and Shs 20,000 going to the top three finishers from each category.

Christine Namaganda, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dove Chess Academy, believes the one day event will play a fundamental role in keeping the younger generation active despite the current lockdown which prohibits gatherings.

“We have now embarked on online Chess Championships because the current COVID 19 situation doesn’t allow gatherings. But Chess can be played online and we expect to have a fair number of participants in the maiden online event,” Namaganda told ChimpReports.

The inaugural online Chess tournament under the theme “Exploring the great potential among the youth for the future” is also open to all contestants from different countries.

It will be played in a rapid time control of 5 minutes and 5 seconds increments from one move.
