Court Extends Summons against Jose Chameleon

Anti Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Pamela Ocaya Lamunu has extended criminal summons against musician, also Lord Mayor hopeful, Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleon.

Chameleon was expected to appear in court on Thursday July 30 to plead on charges of being in possession of an uncustomed vehicle but he didn’t show up.

The state prosecutor in the matter Bakanansa Hilder, thus asked the magistrate to extend the summons.

Her worship Lamunu adjourned the matter to October 22, 2020 and on this date, Chameleon is expected to appear personally in court to take plea on the charges.

On July 7, 2020, the same court summoned Chameleon to appear before it and answer charges of being in possession of an uncustomed Land Cruiser V8 with a Sudanese Number plate. He is also accused of failure to produce documents when required which is contrary to the East African Customs Management Act 2005.

Prosecution alleges that on April 20, 2020, Chameleon was found in possession of vehicle Registration number SSD Toyota Land Cruiser Model V8 CRJ Model along Wakaliga Bulange-Mengo road with no custom documentation.

He was required to avail the team with documentation on the status of the vehicle which he promised but failed to do. The import duty on the said vehicle is valued at Shs 137,350,725 ( one hundred thirty seven million three hundred fifty thousand seven hundred twenty five shillings only).
