Dr Tanga Odoi the chairperson of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has warned all people coming for the nomination exercise at the party offices in Nakasero to be vigilant about conmen.
Odoi says he received reports about an increased number of fraudsters at the party offices targeting those picking nomination forms.
He told press that so far they have identified six women whom they have put under investigation
“There are indications that people are telling candidates to pay in order to access the offices; these are public offices and nobody should pay any money,” he said
Tanga also revealed that they were to scrutinize journalists to ensure they eliminate people disguising as media personalities with an intent of defrauding party members.
All journalists covering the nomination exercise will be required to carry identity cards or recommendations letters from their companies which will be presented at the gate before being allowed inside
The picking of forms from the Party Electoral offices is still underway but under strict guidelines for COVID19 prevention.
