A second batch of 382 Ugandan Nationals stranded in Saudi Arabia, has been successfully repatriated back into Uganda. These mainly consist of migrant workers and students.

This repatriation was initiated by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and facilitated by Uganda Embassy in Riyadh and other authorities in Uganda such as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health and Works and Transport.

Given the high numbers of stranded Ugandans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries of accreditation under Uganda Embassy Riyadh, similar arrangements are being worked out to have more Ugandans repatriated.

To date a total of 557 Ugandans stranded in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been repatriated out of 1800 Ugandan who have registered with the Embassy from all its countries of accreditation.

The High Court has this morning dismissed the case that was filed against the new leadership of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party. The founder of NUP, Moses Kibalama Nkonge filled the case with the hope of getting back his party from Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine.

According to High Court Judge Musa Sekaana in a judgment sent via email: “The judicial review guidelines or rules equally provide for locus standi and this would have been the threshold before the applicants would seek to challenge actions of the party. It is an abuse of court process. This application is dismissed with costs to the respondents.”

According to NUP spokesperson Joel Senyonyi, the Application was dismissed with costs by the judge as because of that, the party is now recognized as legally existent.

This was also posted on NUP’s twitter page: “THE NUP- KIBALAMA COURT CASE HAS BEEN DISMISSED. WE ARE A LEGALLY EXISTING POLITICAL PARTY NUP EVERYWHERE #mission2021
